Description: Two-Day CPD Training:Helping Clients Affected by Porn Use
Participants may attend one or both days. This two-day professional training equips mental health practitioners with evidence-informed, trauma-informed and practical approaches to supporting individuals, partners and couples affected by problematic pornography use, compulsive sexual behaviour and relational betrayal.

Day One: Understanding Problematic Pornography Use & Compulsive Sexual Behaviour in Clinical Practice.
Explores current models of problematic pornography use and compulsive sexual behaviour, including psychological, neurological, relational and attachment-related factors. Participants will develop introductory assessment and case formulation skills, consider the distinction between compulsive sexual behaviour and values-based distress, and learn non-shaming, ethically grounded approaches to responding to disclosures. The workshop also considers relationship impact, practical clinical responses, scope of practice and appropriate specialist referral.

Day Two: Working with Betrayal Trauma in Counselling Practice. 
Focuses on the psychological and relational impact of sexual betrayal, including pornography use and compulsive sexual behaviour, on intimate partners. Participants will explore betrayal trauma and attachment rupture, common responses following discovery and disclosure, and the impact of secrecy and deception on safety, trust and a partner's sense of reality. Practical training covers stabilisation, containment, psychoeducation, safety planning, therapist bias, ethical practice, professional boundaries and appropriate referral.
Both workshops combine evidence-informed teaching with practical assessment frameworks, clinical case studies, small-group discussion, reflective exercises, role plays and knowledge assessment, with an emphasis on skills that can be applied within professional practice.
